Utah Campus Compact

UCC black redUtah Campus Compact (UCC) has been committed to strengthening the public and civic purpose of higher education in the State of Utah since its founding in 1996.  A membership network, UCC includes all eight of the Utah System of Higher Education institutions, Westminster College, and the Utah College of Applied Technology.  According to the Annual Campus Compact Survey, UCC campuses reported 905,449 hours of service in the last reported year (2012-2013).

The UCC network provides training, technical assistance, and network gatherings for faculty, staff and students from across the state in partnership with higher education institutions, government offices such as the Lt. Governor, and professional groups.

UCC‘s work includes professional development institutes and retreats for faculty that feature both local and national in service-learning and civic engagement. UCC also provides leadership and skill development training and initiatives for students; these include: an Engaged Citizenship Retreat, Student Service Leader Retreat, and legislative simulation, the Utah Intercollegiate Legislature.  Staff offerings include regular meetings of Community Engagement Administrators and specific training on programming such as Alternative Break.

Additionally, Utah Campus Compact administers two AmeriCorps National Service programs in partnership with the Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism and the Corporation for National Service. The UCC AmeriCorps Education Award Program places approximately 600 current students at member campuses  in their local communities. This results in over 221,000 hours of service and $800,000 in Segal Education Awards earned per program year.  The Higher Education Elevated VISTA Project places nine full-time AmeriCorps members with member college access and success programs to support the 66% by 2020 goal advocated by Governor Herbert and supported by the Commissioner of Higher Education through College Access Network of Utah. VISTA members serve 15,000 hours and earn over 50,000 in Segal Education Awards.

UCC receives financial and in-kind support from the Utah State Legislature, Utah System of Higher Education, Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism, Utah Commission on Civic and Character Education, and membership dues.
